A solar panel converts sunlight into electricity, and some locations have a little more sun than others. The Netherlands is small, but significant differences can also be found within it. For example, solar radiation in the Netherlands ranges from 850 kWh/m² in the east to 1,400 kWh/m² on the coast. We use this climate data in the calculations. In Hardinxveld-Giessendam, we expect solar radiation of 1,121 kWh/m² per year.

Details of the yield calculation
For the yield calculation, we use Solar Monkey. This is sophisticated software that can calculate exactly the expected yield. This way, you can be sure that the calculated yield is a good match to the yield in practice. This takes into account:
- Location and local climate factors
- System and hardware specifications
- Environmental factors and shade losses

System Specifications
One panel yields more than another, and the inverter also affects the energy yield. First, we consider the technical specifications of the panel, with the tested power of the panels (the amount of Watt peak) being the most important factor. In addition, placement is key. A panel facing south yields more than one facing north, and a 30-degree placement angle is more favorable than a panel lying flat.
