The story of ChargeBlock, from its origins to our vision for the future.
From container to battery storage
ChargeBlock was founded on a clear vision: energy storage must become more reliable, more scalable, and better integrated into the energy infrastructure of tomorrow. The foundation of that story lies with our leading partner, Unit45 Group. With more than 25 years of experience in designing, manufacturing, and deploying custom containers worldwide, and a fleet of over 30,000 containers, Unit45 has built a strong reputation in high-quality container solutions for international industries. From that background, we saw how quickly the energy market was changing. Grid congestion, electrification, and the rapid growth of renewable energy called for new solutions. At the same time, a large part of the battery market consisted of generic white-label systems without full control over design, quality, or long-term reliability. ChargeBlock was established to do it differently. By combining Unit45’s container expertise with battery technology and industrial energy integration, we build energy storage systems that are designed from the ground up for heavy-duty and long-duration applications, directly at the source and without intermediaries. Today, ChargeBlock develops battery containers for four key sectors: commercial and industrial, utility-scale energy storage, maritime and inland shipping, and mobile energy storage. Through this broad deployment, we are building energy solutions that are not only technically robust, but also practical to deploy in the infrastructure of tomorrow.

For battery cells, we work exclusively with Tier 1 manufacturers such as CATL, while critical components such as inverters and power electronics are selected for reliability and industrial performance. Assembly and production take place at a specialized manufacturing partner in China. Organizing production there allows us to scale more efficiently and control costs, while development, engineering, and quality control remain fully under ChargeBlock’s direction. All systems are inspected and tested by ChargeBlock in accordance with European standards. With this approach, we combine the best of both worlds: high-quality European engineering with cost-efficient production. This is how we develop a fully integrated energy storage system that meets the highest technical requirements while remaining economically attractive for our customers.
